Charities have trouble advertising tax credit

PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona charities are struggling to get the word out about a state tax credit that is similar to the one for school donations.The ''helping the working poor'' tax credit offers the same dollar-for-dollar return to Arizona taxpayers as the school tax credit. But it's more complex, and nonprofit organizations say they have neither the time nor the resources to publicize it aggressively. ''We don't have that capability,'' said Janice Parker, executive director of the Mesa-based Save the Family Foundation of Arizona, which assists families with emergency expenses such as child care so that a household's wage earners can stay on the job.''We're too busy trying to help the population we're working with.'' .
